The 2015 Meursault Clos des Bouchères 1er Cru has a simple lime and apple blossom bouquet, with touches of peach wafting in after a minute in the glass. The palate is well balanced, though it feels a little reduced on the entry. There is moderate depth here and the acidity is well judged, although the finish lacks some substance and nuance. I suspect this may have just closed down. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
